Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) fostering
FCA actively supports LGBT rights and gay fostering. We appreciate that every single one of our foster carers brings with them a unique blend of knowledge, compassion and experience with which to support our looked after children and young people.
In support of gay fostering, FCA recruits foster carers who are gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender or straight. Every carer or family fostering with FCA provides a unique approach to foster care that is made up of their individual experiences and personal attributes.
Gay fostering with FCA
As part of Stonewall’s Top 100 Gay Friendly Employers list of 2011, FCA actively supports gay parenting. FCA promotes gay fostering in line with the value statement on which the company was built; that foster carers, including gay parents, can provide a positive and lasting difference in the lives of looked after children and young people.
FCA believes a safe and stable home can be offered to young people looked after in gay fostering placements, lesbian fostering placements, bisexual fostering placements and transgender fostering placements.
This culture of fostering equality and diversity is a part of the unique approach that has made FCA stronger and has helped us to become the largest Independent Fostering Agency in the UK, producing positive outcomes in thousands of young people’s lives.
Supporting the gay fostering community
FCA supports the gay fostering community through a presence at Pride events in the UK throughout the year and by stating our positive position on gay parenting and gay fostering.
We have also established a partnership with New Family Social (NFS), a gay fostering and adoption charity through which FCA is able to connect with more members of the gay fostering community, sharing our equality and diversity culture.
