Fostering Equality and Diversity
Foster Care Associates is proud to embrace all aspects of equality and diversity in our fostering recruitment process.
We believe in equality and diversity in fostering and we do not discriminate against potential or existing foster carers on the grounds of age, disability, gender, gender reassignment status, marital/civil partnership status, race and ethnicity, religion and belief, or sexual orientation.
Equality and diversity in fostering recruitment
Before and during the fostering application process, potential foster carers with FCA are encouraged to share information about their lifestyle, including aspects such as their sexual orientation, their religion or any disabilities they may have.
There are certain limits to equality and diversity practices inherent in fostering, due to the active and demanding nature of foster care. For instance, a serious physical disability or certain age may impair an individual’s ability to offer proactive fostering support. However, every case is judged strictly independently and no discriminatory equality and diversity rules apply to fostering with FCA.
In everything we do, FCA works to ensure that our foster carer recruitment and support practices are always fair, always equal, and embrace diversity in our foster carers as well as our looked after children.
